Second episode of the AI-powered Generative Thinkers Podcast Series!
So, you’re about to listen the two ionic AI voices of Google’s NotebookLM (with some cool music) discussing concepts from my book “Generative Knowledge: Think, Learn, Create.”
This episode introduces generative knowledge. According to my book, generative knowledge is a fundamental reconceptualization of how knowledge operates and evolves, defining it as “that distinctive form of knowledge that creates new knowledge”. This dynamic, self-expanding form of knowledge distinguishes itself from conservational systems by continuously widening the horizons of understanding. The concept’s linguistic heritage links it to creation and procreation.
This framework operates through six foundational principles. In this framework, AI is positioned as an epistemic technology, embodying “AI Generativity”—the potential to enhance or automate inquiry and yield novel explanations.
The AI Generativity’s potential must be harnessed by “generative thinkers,” who possess domain expertise and treat AI as an epistemic partner to amplify their cognitive reach. I emphasize the need for “epistemic stewardship” to counter the “illusion of knowledge” and ensure that human agency and critical vigilance remain central in this evolving knowledge ecosystem.
Enjoy!
